THE BRIDGE OVER GRADUATE TRANSITION: SUCCESS STORY

 Introduction

Life goes through different stages that designates the shape of our future, every stage has its own thorns and opportunities, pros and cons which you need to contemplate vigilantly, from the day you come to an end at higher school and said goodbye to your schooling life, you instantly confront a new ambience, here is the first time you are about to put your figure on your way to higher education, prioritizing your alma-mater, what kind of field you will spend your time in the next four or five years ,furthermore, which institution you should also attend getting the right track/decision is the initial spirit that will drive you towards your goals.

The second stage is the day you take your first degree from undergraduate life, right now everything seems to be changing ,you look someone woke up from a nightmare, unheard of voice says to you’’ welcome to the real world’’ you are now a new-born baby at the labour market because we mostly had never experienced such this life before, so instead of giving consideration this as an ordinary transition that every graduator should confront we immediately feel moments of confusion persuading that we are very unlucky, or such hallucinations; there is no opportunity in this country, whatever, small fraction of Somali youth graduators find opportunities while other are out of the dilemma, the third stage is the time you want to establish a family ,this needs not something but everything

My days in TNE with SOS, IITE and IRISE HUB

Although I had quite insight about the situation in the labour force and unemployment rates as my thesis project was undertaking this, I had also tasted the sour of these days

In the normal course of life ,one day while I was browsing through one of the job posting websites I had suddenly caught to my sight an advertisement highlighting The next economy batch two ,It was 20 November 2020 at 9:20pm ,after giving an eyeful about this I had immediately submitted my application and I pursued my interest

After a month of pending I was lucky enough to appear in 150 out of 1400 applicants whom will be taken as TNE batch two, from that day onwards I had kicked off three months of mentorship and training, a course named core life skills

 IITE Core life skills

Institute of innovation and technology IITE is a modernized institute that combines higher quality and modernity which offers development and innovation to the society, it is scarce at best to find such this institution in our country

Though I wasn’t around the orientation day I had attended my first core life skills session on January 14th, as usual every class we attend the first day determines the level of your gratification, the attention you will have to pay and all about your interest in the coming sessions because we give full observation about how the class will proceed ,what kind of mentor you will come across and also the type of your classmates, it is the moments we weigh up everything around us, but it was unprecedented beginning how my dear mentor Ayuub had successfully managed our introductory session

If I glimpse back a little, something had quietly changed in my life from the day I befriended with IITE and group A colleagues, I told myself that I am not unemployed I am only outstanding candidate ,this indeed mitigated the burden of unemployment in my head I became very motivated and mentally inspired though struggling the cost of my arrival at the campus

In my experience during these session I have utterly scaled up my skills we were not taught raw knowledge but we have explored real-life skills that crossed my comfort zone including communication skills, problem solving critical thinking personal development investigating to find ‘’who we are’ ’personal strengths, weaknesses, talents, interests and future goals, what added some salt on that was how collaboratively we had conducted these sessions, team working skill were indeed mastered there

In the mid of our sessions IITE had given us a remarkable training about Blogging webinar conducted via zoom, though I had launched my first BlogSpot prior two months from that night it also magnified my concept and improved my profession of a blogger and lots of my friends have utilized to embark their personal blog

After accomplishment in this course we were notified to choose between two tracks either employability track or entrepreneurship and I had presented my pitch preferring to catch employability track knowing that jobs are short term solutions for a long term problems

We then moved to our employability track conducted by IRISE hub; an organization that leverages technology for social impact and youth developmental programs

Another day of progress and vision had appeared with some familiar friends those who have met their choice again, we had also smoothly taken six weeks of training and mentorship in employability track, our sessions were now focusing skills required candidates in the process to the market, how each one can pioneer to the thousands of competitors in the market specializing how to prepare modernized cvs and all procedures that could lead to edge over our peers, in here we had discussions, brainstorming with active teams  sharing our experiences, dear mentors Abdifitah and sumaya were driving this track besides some well experienced honourable guests during the sessions

To cut long story short, we had finally invited to our closing ceremony and awarded certificates of completion, the ceremony was beyond my expectation how amazing was organized, we also had an opportunity to see the top executives of SOS children’s village and one of the offices of ministry of youth and sports, though I can’t express your appreciation in words I am more grateful to you than you will never know ;SOS,IITE and IRISE ,Dear Coaches MR warsame and Madam Ilhan how valuable you had stood by me over my transition periods, in a nut shell, I insist the speech of the national director of SOS children’s village  MR Dakane towards on call for local universities to play their part  and provide relevant trainings to the students prior to their graduation
